Swimming

We took the boys swimming for our playdate yesterday. Caleb was so excited and couldn't wait to get in the water. They played in the kiddie pool the entire time which is a good place for them to play because it was only about 6 inches. I learned that I have to be very careful about Caleb rubbing sores on his knees and feet when he is in the pool. He scraped his big toes and one knee on the bottom of the pool and of course he didn't know it because he can't feel it. I might need to get him a full body swimsuit with swim shoes so that he is protected. The boys had a really great time so we've decided to make swimming a regular part of our playdates.

Watching TV with Elmo & Cookie Monster

I took this picture last week but didn't get around to posting it. Caleb likes to watch Sesame Street after breakfast and on this particular morning he wanted Elmo and Cookie Monster to watch with him.

Zoo

Glenn and I took Caleb to the zoo this morning. It was a little crowded with school field trips and it was a bit warm but we still had a good time. Caleb enjoyed seeing all of the different animals, I'm not sure if he had a favorite though. He really liked the monkeys until one of them got a little too close to the glass, that scared him and he grabbed onto Glenn. Glenn doesn't care for snakes much so we skipped that exhibit but we did get to see 2 snakes that were just wondering around the zoo, that was a little scary! We only stayed about 3 hours but that was enough to wear us all out. Caleb must have been tired because he fell asleep about 3 1/2 minutes after we got into the car. Isn't that just precious?

Hat and Socks

For some reason Caleb wanted to wear his hat and his socks on his hands. I just couldn't resist taking these pictures of him, he looks so precious! Look at those gorgeous blue eyes, soooo handsome! The last picture is of him doing his "sad-poutty" face, he's very good at making that face.

With Ms. Chris

Here are some pictures of Caleb working hard for Ms. Chris, his wonderful physical therapist. I love seeing him in his braces because he just looks so big! I'm usually behind him when he is in his braces so I don't always get to see what he looks like from the front. I'm always shocked to see how tall he actually is! Ms. Chris works Caleb very hard but he is a trooper (usually). She had him walking up to a ball and then kicking it, which he did very well. Then she had him color while standing up. He is always tired and hungry when she leaves!

Hamburgers at the park

This afternoon we met up with some family at the park so that we could enjoy the beautiful weather. Caleb had a blast climbing up the slide and going down head first (with my help of course). We grilled some hamburgers and had a nice dinner while we were there. Caleb really loved seeing his cousins Jace and Ally. Caleb ended his busy day with a nice warm bubble bath! Boy does he have it good!

Toddler Bed

Well Caleb is officially a big boy now, we changed his crib into a toddler bed! He was doing fine in the crib but he is just getting bigger and heavier so we thought it might be easier on our backs if we transitioned him into a toddler bed. Glenn was worried that he would try to climb out of the bed but so far he has stayed put, we put a couple of pillows on the floor by the bed just in case. We will work on teaching him how to safely get out of the bed on his own. These pictures were taken today when he woke up from his nap. I don't know if you can see it but there is a huge drool spot!

Tea for Joy 2008

Yesterday was the annual "Tea for Joy" and Angela (Bryce's mommy), Marissa (Ethan's mommy) and I hosted 3 tables for the event. It was a lot of work, more than we expected, but it was a lot of fun. It was a privilege to be a part of such a wonderful event that raises money for kiddos with Spina Bifida. Caleb did pretty good considering he didn't get a nap at all yesterday. He enjoyed all the food and lemonade, maybe too much, we eventually had to cut him off so that he didn't eat until he popped! He got to spend time with his grandparents and Aunt Rachel as well. He did get a little bored during the tea so Glenn took him out in the hall and let him roam around in his wheelchair, at one point he had about 8 little girls surrounding him and giving him hugs (what a ladies man). He was exhausted after it was all over and fell asleep in the car on the way home. Thank you Angela and Marissa for all of your hard work, it was fun working with both of you despite the stress (i.e. soup bowls or no soup bowls, different sized forks, tablecloths that don't fit, etc). I love you ladies!

Every last drop

I caught this picture of Caleb this morning as he was finishing up breakfast. I guess he didn't want any of the milk from his cereal to go to waste, he was going to get every last drop! So cute!
